Dear Parents:

Next week, the 6^th grade will be going on a science field trip to the Bronx Zoo. There, we will be investigating the many different animals and plants that live together in the world, and the environment in which they live. We are planning to visit many different exhibits, such as the World of Birds, the Baboon Reserve, Butterfly Garden, African Wild Dogs, and Madagascar! Each group of students (about 10/group) will have a slightly different experience, accompanied by a 6^th grade teacher.

We will be leaving Archimedes by school bus around 9:30 (after Living Group) and returning before the 6^th period Block. So, the students will all have 1^st and 6^th block classes that day, and should prepare appropriately.

We will be eating lunch a the Zoo, so each student should bring a lunch of their choosing. We will not have time for students to buy lunches at the Zoo, and we will not be stopping at stores for any reason.

If students would like to bring a digital camera, or use the camera on a phone, they may, but you and they must understand that Archimedes cannot take responsibility for the safety of the equipment.

Each student should wear at least their uniform shirt, but may wear comfortable walking shoes and pants, as we will be doing quite a bit of walking during the trip. Students should prepare for any kind of weather, as we will go rain or shine.

Students will also be expected to work appropriately on the trip, so they will need something to write with. If the student could bring a clipboard, that might come in handy.
