Beginning Weather Unit

WEATHER!

The new year and our classes began with WEATHER!

We ran over some facts about weather, to define our terms; that's the Power Point posted on 1/3. We also began to keep track of a bunch of weather data, which we will do daily for at least a few weeks.

Each day, we discussed the weather data, comparing it to the previous day's and searching for patterns. This, too, we shall do continously.

The next big event was another PowerPoint connecting our studies of Energy with our study of Weather. That Power Point will be posted soon.

Toward the end of last week, the students worked together or alone to prepare comic strips based on the connection between the Sun, Energy, and Weather. These will serve nicely to compare our prior knowledge with what we learn during the unit.

Today, also, we are going to do some writing to establish our baseline of knowledge and interest in weather. This data will help drive our study over the next few weeks.
