Assigned Topics for Research Papers

Look at portaportal.com for acceptable research websites. Use the research paper guidelines. Hand in the pieces in order, and separately. Just a final paper is not enough. USE YOUR OWN WORDS. You can't get credit for handing in work someone else wrote.

Exit Project Timing

Time is passing quickly for our Exit Projects.

The teams should have finished running their trials by now, which means they should be graphing and analyzing data gathered from their trials. They will use this evidence to make claims about their hypothesis. Then, they will making their display boards.

Any teams that are interested in displaying their work at the NYC Science Expo on Sunday, June 12, need to have their boards completed by June 10. All the teams are invited to come to the American Museum of Natural History on June 12th to see Exit Projects from middle school students from all over New York City. It's fascinating and fun, plus you get a free pass to the museum for the whole day.

So, the next steps for the teams are:
  • Complete trials/Collect data
  • Graph the data
  • Complete Background Research: Finish "because" part of hypothesis; write research paper
  • Analyze data
  • Write a conclusion about their results

It is a short list, but deep. We really need to move faster!
